Inquiry into Language – Today, we started off with a group discussion regarding DRAs and what the expectations are. We reviewed:
· How to read with expression and at an appropriate pace.
· How to ask proper questions and make proper predictions.
· How to summarize a story (without adding opinions or unnecessary details).
· How to make an appropriate comparison.
After this, we completed the first part of our DRAs. We will continue over the next few days.
Once we were done with our language period, we went to reading buddies!
French – In the afternoon, we had French with Mme. Rawan, which you can read about on her blog (https://mmerawansja.blogspot.com).
Inquiry into Math – Today, we continued our inquiry from yesterday. Yesterday, we measured how long it took to walk certain distances. Today, we looked at the relationship between time and distance, which is speed (more specifically average speed). You can calculate either time, distance, or speed if you have the other two.
Speed = Distance ¸Time àIf you travel 80km in 4h, that is 20 km/h
Distance = Speed x Time àIf you travel 90km/h for 5h, that is 450 km
Time = Distance ¸Speed àIf you travel 500km at 50 km/h, you travelled for 10h.
Inquiry into Coding – Today, students worked on their mazes, which will be submitted for tomorrow.
For homework:
· Mini-project #6 (due tomorrow)
· MMS Pg. 154-155 (due tomorrow)
· Read & sign summative package (due tomorrow)
All homework for the day is placed here, but time may have been given in class to complete this work.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns by email, and I will respond as quickly as possible.
Mr. Conte
