Tuesday, May 21st

I hope you all had a fantastic long weekend!

A message from your friendly neighbourhood librarian…

A couple of quick reminders:
·      Tomorrow is a Day 4 – it’s been a while, but we have gym!
·      Aftercare invoices are overdue. They were due Wednesday, May 15th; if you are unsure if you have any owing amount, please email Ms. Chiappetta at echiappetta@stjudesacademy.com
·      Re-registration is now open to the public; if you have not submitted your package – please do so as soon as possible and reach out with any questions.
·      We are now wearing full summer uniforms. A reminder:
o  Black dress shoes
o  Navy blue socks
o  Grey St. Jude’s pants
o  Short sleeve button up white polo shirt (tucked in)

Inquiry into Language – Today, we worked on spelling lesson 32, which was learning about words that end in yand how to properly add suffixes. After this, we continued learning about writing newspaper articles. We created a level 4 piece of writing together in preparation for our OWA post assessment next week.

French – In the afternoon, we had French with Mme. Rawan, which you can read about on her blog (https://mmerawansja.blogspot.com).

Inquiry into Math – Today, we started our new unit and final math unit of the year. We started learning about representing patterns and the different ways we can do that. We learned that we can look at figure numbers and the number of shapes in that figure in a table of values, and then we can use those numbers to create an ordered pair. Once we do that, we can graph our data and spot the pattern on the graph, and even use the graph to help us predict what will happen in later figures.

Inquiry into Coding – Today, we started learning about pair programming. It is exactly what it sounds like – programming in pairs. We started mini-project #5, which will be an entirely in-class project, and will be completed by Friday at the end of the day. We learned how to create a background and create our own sprites as well. Students have to create a race!

For homework:
·      Spelling Lesson #32 (due tomorrow)
·      MMS Pg. 148-149 (due tomorrow)
·      YMCA forms
All homework for the day is placed here, but time may have been given in class to complete this work.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns by email, and I will respond as quickly as possible.

Mr. Conte
