Monday, May 27th

I hope everyone has had an excellent weekend! Mine was certainly very busy. There are only 14 days of school left. Can you believe it?!

A message from your friendly neighbourhood librarian…

A couple of quick reminders:
·      Tomorrow is a Day 2 – students should bring their gym uniforms, but not wear them to school as we are having gym at the end of the day.

·      Re-registration is now open to the public; if you have not submitted your package – please do so as soon as possible and reach out with any questions.
·      We are now wearing full summer uniforms. A reminder:
o  Black dress shoes
o  Navy blue socks
o  Grey St. Jude’s pants
o  Short sleeve button up white polo shirt (tucked in)

Inquiry into Language – Today, we started our day by reviewing the OWA topic for term three, which is newspaper article writing. After this, we wrote our post-assessment for term three!

French – In the afternoon, we had French with Mme. Rawan, which you can read about on her blog (https://mmerawansja.blogspot.com).

Inquiry into Math – Over the past few lessons, we have been exploring patterns in numbers. We have been looking at how to represent numbers on a graph, using a table of values, and how to write pattern rules. Today, we started exploring patterns in geometry by looking at three-dimensional shapes. We started off with a group inquiry activity.

After this activity, we had come to a conclusion! For three-dimensional shapes, you can find the number of edges by adding the number of faces and vertices and then subtracting 2. This is known as Euler’s (pronounced Oiler’s) formula. Here is the formula:

F + V – 2 = E

We looked at how there are patterns in geometry as well. Tomorrow, we will continue to explore these real-world patterns in numbers.

Inquiry into Coding – We continued to work on our racing project tomorrow. Then we’ll be off to the races!

For homework:
·      MMS Pg. 152-153 (due tomorrow)
·      Spelling Lesson 33 (due Wednesday)
·      French: Finish verb conjugations (due tomorrow)
All homework for the day is placed here, but time may have been given in class to complete this work.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns by email, and I will respond as quickly as possible.

Mr. Conte
