Thursday, May 23rd

I hope everyone is having a great week so far. I sent an email regarding track and field as we had to move it to tomorrow. Gym uniforms again!

A message from your friendly neighbourhood librarian…

A couple of quick reminders:
·      Tomorrow is a Day 6 – students should wear gym uniforms for track & field!
·      Math tests for transformational geometry were sent home yesterday.
·      Aftercare invoices are overdue. They were due Wednesday, May 15th; if you are unsure if you have any owing amount, please email Ms. Chiappetta at echiappetta@stjudesacademy.com
·      Re-registration is now open to the public; if you have not submitted your package – please do so as soon as possible and reach out with any questions.
·      We are now wearing full summer uniforms. A reminder:
o  Black dress shoes
o  Navy blue socks
o  Grey St. Jude’s pants
o  Short sleeve button up white polo shirt (tucked in)

We started the morning with Track & Field…unfortunately, we got rained out. We will continue with all of our events tomorrow.

French – In the afternoon, we had French with Mme. Rawan, which you can read about on her blog (https://mmerawansja.blogspot.com).

Inquiry into Math – Today, we continued our learning from yesterday by relating graphing back to input output machines. Here is what we discovered:

When you have a graph with coordinates, you may be able to find a pattern. You take the coordinates on the graph and put them into your table of values. Using this table of values, you can find a pattern rule for your input output machines.

For example, if you have the coordinates (1, 6), (2, 10), and (3, 14), you would have a table that has 1, 2, and 3 on the left, and 6, 10, and 14 on the right. Then, you have to find a pattern rule that fits for ALL of the items in your chart. For example, Start at 1 and add 5 works for the first line, but not the second. (This pattern rule is Start at 1, multiply by 4 and then add 2).

We will be continuing this learning next week.

Inquiry into Coding – Today, students continued to work on their pair programming activity. This will be an entirely in-class activity that is due Monday (due date has been changed).

For homework:
·      Study for spelling test Friday
·      YMCA forms
·      Play day forms & money (due Monday)
All homework for the day is placed here, but time may have been given in class to complete this work.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns by email, and I will respond as quickly as possible.
