Friday, June 26th, Day 6

Good morning everyone!

Wasn’t your graduation assembly marvelous? You blew me away with your speech. You all contributed such wonderful ideas. Thanks to the editing team for finalising the ideas. Speech presenters, you were awesome. Thanks to Ms. Jaskolka for practicing with you guys. Great job!
Remember to take time to explore the SJA Imaginarium if you haven’t already done so, or if you have, do it again.

Language: Adverbs with Ms. Jaskolka

Students will work in groups and explore the following:
- the fourth part of speech – adverbs
An adverb is a word that modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. It answers the questions where, when, how, how often, to what extent.

Went there (where)
arrived later (when)
spoke quietly (how)
seldom loses (how often)
very good (to what extent)

-To locate adverbs, first find the verb
-Then ask the questions which adverbs answer
-To find adverbs that modify adjectives, first find the adjective
-Then ask the questions how or to what extent
-When looking for adverbs, first find the verb and ask the adverb for questions
-Then look to see if there is an adverb in front of an adjective or another adverb

-Students will work in groups through activities 1-2 to gain a better understanding of adverbs and then apply their understanding of adverbs and adjectives with activity 3
