We looked at the organizational structure of newspaper articles. It goes as follows: introduction, who, when, where, what, why, how, and conclusion. On Friday, we wrote a very basic article. We discussed how we could improve this newspaper article and how we would make it better. Today, we started examining how to turn it from a lower level to a level 4+!

We started with everyone looking at the article individually and making edits that they believe would be better. We then got into small focus groups and started rewriting the article. We will be bringing combinations of everyone’s work together to make a very strong article before we start our final project for Hatchet.

Inquiry into Math – Today, we started doing an art project for rotational symmetry. Students were asked to design one eighth of a circle, and then started to rotate the design to create symmetry. We will be continuing this activity tomorrow.

Inquiry into Coding – Students started to learn about animating sprites in Scratch today. They are staring mini-project #2, which is to animate their own names. This project is due tomorrow and we will extend our learning as well.

For homework:
·      Coding mini-project #2 (due tomorrow)
·      Practice for Wizard of Oz
All homework for the day is placed here, but time may have been given in class to complete this work.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns by email, and I will respond as quickly as possible.
