Good afternoon everyone!
It’s already Friday – we’ve had a
busy week!
A quick note before the day is
discussed – DRAs went home in student agendas today. For the couple of you I
have not had a chance to email just yet, I will be doing so later today or early
tomorrow. Unit phone calls will be continued next week.
We started our day with gym with
Mr. Orr, which you can read about on his blog (link on the left).
We returned to class and practiced
for the French spelling test.
Then, we had music with Mr. Oliver,
which you can read about on his blog (link on the left).
In the afternoon, we had French
with Mme. Rawan, which you can read about on her blog (link on the left).
Inquiry into Language – We had our
lesson 5 spelling test, and then we read through chapter 13 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning
Thief.
Inquiry into Math – We continued
our unit on number patterns by looking into how to solve equations. The key is
using our inverse operations. For example, if you have 4 + ___ = 13, you can do
13 – 4 = ___, which is 9 to solve since addition and subtraction are inverse
operations. You can always check your work by using the number you found and
putting it back in your equation.
We had some fun with a little
competition and math problem!
After this, students had some free
time to work on some of their homework for this weekend.
For the matter summative, students
should already have:
- · An experiment
- · A title
- · A question
- · Independent and Dependent variables
- · A hypothesis
- · A list of materials
- · A procedure
This weekend, students should conduct
their experiment 3 times, take pictures, and record all their observations.
Their work should be brought in Monday so we can begin good copies. The final finished
product is due Thursday.
For homework:
A couple of quick reminders:
- · Starting this week, students need to wear their winter uniform, so ALL 7 pieces. We had a few uniform slip-ups this week; next week, the expectation is full winter uniform every day.
