Tomorrow is Friday, which means house ties!

A couple of quick reminders:

·      Permission forms were sent home Friday for our trip to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. They are due no later than Wednesday, March 6th, 2019.
Gym – The students started the day doing gym with Mr. Orr, which you can read about on his blog (http://tysonorr.blogspot.com)

After gym, we visited Mr. Foster’s class, Ms. Brasil’s class, and Ms. Gandy’s class for their grade one markets! They did such a fantastic job!

Music – Then, we had music with Mr. Oliver, which you can read about on his blog (https://mrolivermusicclass.blogspot.com).

French – In the afternoon, we had French with Mme. Rawan, which you can read about on her blog (https://mmerawansja.blogspot.com).

Inquiry into Math – Today, we extended our knowledge of probabilities by examining all possible outcomes of a given situation/question. We did this using tree diagrams. Imagine you were to roll two dice. How many possible combinations of numbers are there? Let’s take a look.

There are 36 possible combinations.

To create a tree diagram, you need to have multiple options to be chosen. For example – ice cream. Waffle cone or regular? Chocolate or vanilla? M&Ms, gummies, or candy?

Once the diagram is created, you can know all the possible different combinations. This can help you by showing you all possible outcomes, and then you only need to check for any favourable outcomes!

We did some work in class on this after the lesson.

Math tests for our decimals unit were also sent home today.

Inquiry into the Human Body – Students continued working on their summative for our current unit of inquiry (the human body).

For homework:
·      MMS Pg. 160 – 161 (due tomorrow)
·      Practice speech
·      Study for spelling test tomorrow
·      House ties tomorrow!
·      Reregistration packages are due by February 11th
All homework for the day is placed here, but time may have been given in class to complete this work.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns by email, and I will respond as quickly as possible.

Mr. Conte
