Inquiry into the Human Body – This morning, we covered the reproductive system. The girls went with Ms. Cass and Mrs. Hocevar, and the boys were with myself and Mr. Orr. We labelled both male and female reproductive organs, and discussed puberty for each gender. The girls focussed more on what their bodies would go through and the boys did the same. Some of the students did have some questions – they are encouraged to ask us anonymously (through question boxes) and we have also told them they are able to ask you as well.

Inquiry into Language – We wrote out lesson 16 spelling test.

Music – Then, we had music with Mr. Oliver, which you can read about on his blog (https://mrolivermusicclass.blogspot.com).

French – In the afternoon, we had French with Mme. Rawan, which you can read about on her blog (https://mmerawansja.blogspot.com).

Inquiry into Math – During math, we reviewed information learned in grade four on how to conduct a survey.

First, you need to have a question! You need to provide options for people to choose as a part of your survey.

Next, you need to actually survey people and get their votes on each. It is important to read all your options out first and remind people they can only vote once.

After this, you need to represent your information on a graph.

Finally, you make inferences about what you learned from your graph.

Inquiry into Language – Today, we finished working on our speeches by working on our conclusion. In the conclusion, you need to: clearly restate your opinion, clearly restate your reasons, add an interesting fact to keep the audience thinking, and thank the audience for listening.

Students will be finishing their rough copies this weekend. I am asking parents to help remind the students that they need to put their research into their own words. If I can find their information word for word online, I will ask them to rewrite. Also, they need to understand their own work – if they are using words they cannot translate or saying things they do not understand, they need to rewrite.

We visited the grade two’s today to see their sketches of cultural artefacts! Thank you to Ms. Hughes-Smith and her class for inviting us!

For homework:
·      MMS Pg. 78 – 79 (due Monday)
·      Complete parts of speech that have not been completed yet
·      Read Shannen chapters 6 & 7
All homework for the day is placed here, but time may have been given in class to complete this work.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns by email, and I will respond as quickly as possible.
