Happy New Year to everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful break and a fantastic start to 2019 so far. My break was good – I spent a lot of time relaxing and preparing for the months ahead.
A couple of quick reminders:
· Tomorrow is a Day 4 – students should bring their gym uniforms, but not come dressed in them as their gym time is moved for Year-Ahead Day.
· Tomorrow is year ahead day – all of my students will be in Mrs. Haag’s class – they will go straight there in the morning, not to my class.
· Aftercare invoices are due on January 15th; if you are unsure if you have any owing amount, please email Ms. Chiappetta at echiappetta@stjudesacademy.com
Inquiry into Math – We wrote our pre-assessment for our Data Management and Probability unit this morning.
After this, we talked about what we did on our breaks and what we can expect now that we’re back to school.
Inquiry into Language – Today, we started our new novel study, Shannen and the Dream for a School.We started by reading the first chapter and having a discussion about what we read.
Inquiry into the Human Body – We started learning about the respiratory system today, which built on our former knowledge of the skeletal and circulatory systems.
For homework:
· Read for 20 minutes.
· Read chapter two of Shannen and the Dream for a School and provide a summary of chapters 1 & 2 (1/2 page each) (due Friday)
· Research topics for speeches (due Friday)
· Complete activities 1 & 2 of the respiratory system (due Friday)
All homework for the day is placed here, but time may have been given in class to complete this work.
