Another week in the books. We are headed into another busy month here at SJA!
Please remember that reregistration packages are due February 11th. I know this seems far away, but it is coming up quickly. On February 11th, we open spots to the public, and your child will not be guaranteed their spot! We hope to see everyone back next year!
A couple of quick reminders:
· Monday is a Day 4 – students should bring devices for speeches and summative tasks.
· Aftercare invoices were due on January 15th; if you are unsure if you have any owing amount, please email Ms. Chiappetta at echiappetta@stjudesacademy.com
· Re-registration packages are due no later than February 11th, 2019 – at this point we will open registration to the public, and your child will not be guaranteed their spot. We hope to see you again next year!
· Permission forms were sent home Friday for our trip to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. They are due no later than Wednesday, March 6th, 2019.
· Math tests for our last unit were sent home yesterday.
Inquiry into Math – We started our day reviewing concepts from our current unit on data management and probability. We focused on common errors as a review for our test next week. The review is due on Monday and we are going to take it up. Here are the common errors:
Surveys – When completing a survey, there are a couple of things you need. You need to have a question and options (one should be ‘other’). It is also important to properly collect your information. Make sure you are clear that everyone can only vote once and that everyone must vote.
Graphs – For graphs, every graph must have a title, two labelled axes, and proper intervals that are consistent. For example, you cannot start at 20 and then go up by 2s. You need to start at a number and then go up by only that number.
Ordered Pairs – In an ordered pair, the left number is the x-axis and the right number is the y-axis.
Below are just a few more things to note, but not really errors.
Inquiry into the Human Body – Students continued working on their summative for our current unit of inquiry (the human body).
French – In the afternoon, we had French with Mme. Rawan, which you can read about on her blog (https://mmerawansja.blogspot.com).
Inquiry into Language – Today, we used the remainder of the day to work on our speeches. We will be continuing this throughout next week. Please see my email for more details.
For homework:
All homework for the day is placed here, but time may have been given in class to complete this work.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns by email, and I will respond as quickly as possible.
