Daily Challenge – It’s not just coloured water! Blindfold the student, now dig out those leftover Freezies from last summer and let them try random colours of freezies. Who will be able to accurately guess the flavour? Send your videos to Mr. Neal – sneal@stjudesacademy.com

· position my body so that my hands are visible
· keep looking at the camera
· say the word, spell the word, say the word
· ask for the word to be repeated if it is not clear to me
· ask for the word to be used in a sentence or I ask for a definition of the word if it is not clear to me

Inquiry into My Digital Footprint
Learning Goal: Students learn to protect their personal safety online by recognising the behaviours that online predators may use.
We continue the class discussion about the things the on-line friend said that raise a ‘Red Flag’.
Students are presented with scenarios. They decide if the scenarios raise a red flag or not.
Students record what an on-line friend may say, and what an on-line predator may say.
Students watch Teens Talk Back – Meeting Offline. They discuss the responses of the teens in the video. Students write an email to a friend with tips on how to spot an on-line fake.

Inquiry into Math
Learning Goal: use positive and negative tiles to represent integers.
Go through the explanation presented in the PDF as a class and introduce how to use positive and negative tiles to subtract integers
Students will complete homework questions 1 and 2
Questions 3 and 4 – Challenge questions
Success Criteria: I understand:
· subtracting integers means to take away tiles from a group
· when I do not have enough negative or positive tiles I need to add pairs of tiles so that I have enough tiles to subtract
· when I add 0 (pairs of tiles) to a set of tiles, it does not change the value of the number

Inquiry into Language – Novel Study
Learning Goal: Students will consider and write about events from different perspectives.
Introduce class to this term’s novel: Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. This book is in the supplies bag that was delivered from school. It will need to be returned to school at a later date TBD. Students will also receive the workbooks in the forms of daily tasks on ManageBac. Students will have daily class time to read a chapter, answer discussion questions, and participate in activities. Today’s activity is Point of View. Students will write about events from the point of view of two different characters in the book, Students independently read chapter 1, answer questions, and complete activities related to this chapter. Any incomplete work must be completed as homework. It is due before novel study time tomorrow.
Students may choose to join a breakout room where students read silently, or they may choose to join a breakout room where students take turn reading aloud.

Work that is not completed during class time will need to be completed as homework. Students should put more focus into reading at this time. It is an expectation that students are reading between 30 and 60 minutes per day.
