Friday, May 1st

Good morning everyone!

Today we will continue with working on our final presentations. Remember to have your work looked at and commented on by parents, teachers, and mentors. You are responsible for making the changes yourself.

Please read and listen to the following action announcement from Divyansh and Vishva:

Good Morning/Afternoon reader or fellow student. We are Divyansh and Vishva. We have written this because the city of Brampton has started a backyard gardening program in response to COVID-19. Residents of Brampton can receive free supplies of soil and seeds by emailing BramptonGreenCity@brampton.ca. The first person that takes a picture of themselves farming with the seeds will win a prize!! But if you are not a resident of Brampton don't worry as you can take seed from fruits, dry them, and then plant them. However, if you are a resident of Brampton you must get these seeds. Email your pictures to dthangudu@stjudesacademy.com or vsachania@stjudesacademy.com or post your picture on our Discord text channel: haag-pesticides.

WORD OF THE DAY: (A Message from the Deforestation group)

Our Exhibition topic is Deforestation and we are going to educate you on keywords about deforestation.  We will be showing you a WORD OF THE DAY beginning on Monday, April 27th, to Friday, May 1st. We hope that you understand and learn more about our topic.

Day 5:  Friday

Friday's word of the day is fragmentation. Fragmentation is the breaking of large, contiguous, forested areas into smaller pieces of forest and is influenced by large-scale phenomena e.g., roads extension, agriculture or mining developments.

Listen to the following action announcement reminder from Emaan and Yashmeen: Good morning! Our group is doing an eco-friendly challenge. Please send us some pictures (epoonawala@stjudesacademy.com or ydhaliwal@stjudesacademy.com) of how you are being eco-friendly. If you have not been eco-friendly than try to go eco-friendly and send us some pictures! Thank you.

Please read the following message from Mr. Conte’s Social Media exhibition group:

Dear SJA community,

As part of our gym component for our exhibition project, we are asking students & teachers to take part in our social media fitness challenge this weekend. Each time one of the social media apps below is used, you will complete the associated task. For every thirty minutes spent on the app, you must repeat the exercise.  We are trying to make you more active during the day and we do not want to discourage you from using it at all.  We are doing this to allow everyone to recognize and to be aware of how much they actually use social media. Thank you!

 YouTube - 30 Jumping Jacks
Tik Tok - 30 High Knees (15 per side)
 Roblox - 10 Burpees
Gmail/hangouts - 20 second wall-sit
 Instagram - 16 Lunges (8 per side)
 Snapchat - 10 Push ups
WhatsApp - 10 squats

Respectfully,
Caitlyn, Sophia, and Jaya, The Social Media Exhibition Group, 6C

Work that is not completed during class time will need to be completed as homework. Students should put more focus into reading at this time. It is an expectation that students are reading between 30 and 60 minutes per day.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out so I can clarify and assist.
