Wednesday, February 12th

I hope everyone is having a great week so far! I can’t believe this week is almost over.

It’s countdown season:

A reminder about re-registration…

Hello SJA Families!

The Re-registration Deadline is fast approaching (February 18 by 4pm), and we want to ensure that your child’s registration is complete when returned, to avoid having to send home for missing information. Some common things that are missed:
·      Signatures on application form
·      Health card number
·      Emergency contact info (other than parent/guardian)
·      3 sets of initials on the tuition fee schedule (one for payment plan, and two at the bottom)
·      Completed payment methods form (parent name(s), student name(s), banking info (or void cheque), selecting business or personal use, and signature
Please ensure that you are returning:
·      Signed application form (indicate any changes to information)
·      Signed re-registration agreement
·      Completed and signed health history form
·      Completed and signed photo permission form
·      Completed and signed payment methods form
·      Initialed tuition fee schedule with payment plan selection
·      Bussing form (if applicable)
While we will do the best to accommodate existing families, after this deadline we will be accepting new families from our growing waitlist. Don’t be disappointed, hand in your completed re-registration package prior to the deadline.  Please note that the school will be closed Friday (for PD)  and Monday (Family Day).

Please contact our admissions team if you have any questions, at admissions@stjudesacademy.com

Inquiry into Language – Yesterday, we looked at an example of persuasive letter writing, and we learned a few things:
·      Writing in the proper form of a letter, which includes being courteous and professional (addressing a specific person and signing it with our name), a date and the place from where the letter came, an introduction, a fully body, and a closing statement.
·      Writing opinion works, which includes clarifying the issue, an opinion clearly stated, logical reasons that support your opinion, and a summary of that opinion.
Today, we started the day by looking at two examples of persuasive letter writing. These helped us understand further how we can practice this writing form. We looked at the ability to generate reasonable and relevant ideas that are connected to the main topic, as well as using critical and creative thinking processes and imagination in our work. We also looked at transferring our own knowledge and skills and an ability to make connections to our own lives, through our experiences, into our writing.

We will continue to look at these until our post-assessment.

Music – Then, the students had music with Mr. Oliver, which you can read about on his blog (https://mrolivermusicclass.blogspot.com).

French – After this, the students had French with Mme. Stella, which you can read about on her blog (https://stjudesfrench-stella.blogspot.com).

Inquiry into Canada in the World – Today, students used their storyboards to start working on their province for their ‘Welcome to Canada’ project! They worked on creating their videos today and will continue to work on these tomorrow.

Inquiry into Math – We started the lesson by taking up our homework on rotations.

Students then began to explore the idea of tiling a plane by completing an activity. We will be discussing this further tomorrow.

Tests for our Explorers UOI were sent home today, so keep an eye out for those!

Homework:
  • Ensure storyboard and script are completed for voiceover tomorrow (due tomorrow)

We do our best to complete work in class. In the event this is not possible, it will go home for homework.

As always, please feel free to email me with any questions.

Mr. Conte
