Inquiry into Math – We started by taking up the homework yesterday on listing outcomes. We also cleared up some confusion on the difference between listing outcomes versus listing probabilities.

We started our lesson for experimental probability. Sometimes referred to as relative frequency, the experimental probability of a situation is the number of times an outcome occurs divided by the total number of times an experiment is conducted. As a class, we rolled a die (15 rolls in total). It landed on the number ‘1’ a total of 3 times. Therefore, the experimental probability is 3/15, which is 0.2, or 20%. We calculated them for each number.

French – After this, the students had French with Mme. Stella, which you can read about on her blog (https://stjudesfrench-stella.blogspot.com).

Gym – After recess and lunch, the students had gym with Mr. Orr, which you can read about on his blog (http://tysonorr.blogspot.com).

Inquiry into Math – After gym, we continued the math lesson from the morning.

Inquiry into Canada in the World – At the end of the day, students had time to work on their brochures. A reminder of the summative: Students will choose a developing nation with an HDI less than 0.55 and create a brochure for this country. This brochure will contain: physical features, economic features, political features, social features, what the country has to offer in terms of trade and services, and the HDI and needs of the country. They will use this brochure next week at the Ambassador’s Tea Party, where they will meet with other world leaders and talk about the needs of their country and try to find a country who can help them with these needs.

Homework:

We do our best to complete work in class. In the event this is not possible, it will go home for homework.

As always, please feel free to email me with any questions.
