Tuesday, February 18th

I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend. Please remember that we are going to be skiing tomorrow, so students need to be here for 6:45. Please see the email I sent today regarding skiing tomorrow.

It’s countdown season:

March Break is quickly approaching …

A few quick reminders:
·      Tomorrow is Day 6.
·      Aftercare invoices for the month of January have come out and were due Saturday, February 15th, 2020. Any questions can be directed to Ms. Chiappetta at echiappetta@stjudesacademy.com
·      The lunch site is now open for the month of March! It will be open until Wednesday, February 26th at 3:00 p.m. sharp. The special for the month is French Toast with Whipped Cream and Syrup. Please remember not to order on Wednesday, March 4th as we are skiing. Any questions can be directed to Ms. Gandy at sgandy@stjudesacademy.com
·      Re-registration packages were due back by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18th. We are still accepting the packages now – hurry and secure your spot for the 2020-2021 school year.

Inquiry into Language – Last week, we focussed on the four different lenses we look at when writing: knowledge and understanding, thinking and inquiry, communication, and application. Today, we looked at the proper form a letter is written in more specifically (date, place, addressed to someone, signed off, and written with an introduction, body, and conclusion).

We will be re-examining writing persuasively on Thursday and writing our OWA next week Wednesday.

Music – Then, the students had music with Mr. Oliver, which you can read about on his blog (https://mrolivermusicclass.blogspot.com).

French – After this, the students had French with Mme. Stella, which you can read about on her blog (https://stjudesfrench-stella.blogspot.com).

Inquiry into Math – We took up the review sent home over the weekend today. Students will complete a second review in preparation for the test on Friday.

This unit, a large focus is conceptual understanding, which means the test and the review will cover the same concepts but will look different. This is why we are doing two reviews to prepare.

Art – Today, we started the first step of our Viking art pieces by using a combination of blue, green, and white paint to create the sailing waters for our Viking ships.

Inquiry into Canada in the World – We took up our information for our chart comparing the PEPS features of Canada and the Unites States of America. We will still be using these for an activity later in the week.

Homework:

We do our best to complete work in class. In the event this is not possible, it will go home for homework.

As always, please feel free to email me with any questions.

Mr. Conte
