A couple of quick reminders:
· Tomorrow is a Day 5.
· Aftercare invoices were due on February 15th; if you are unsure if you have any owing amount, please email Ms. Chiappetta at echiappetta@stjudesacademy.com
· Re-registration is now open to the public; if you have not submitted your package – please do so as soon as possible and reach out with any questions.
· Permission forms were sent home for our trip to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. They are due no later than Wednesday, March 6th, 2019.
· The website for hot lunches in March is now open. Please remember we are skiing on March 7thand on a trip on March 27th, so hot lunches should not be ordered for those days.
· Tomorrow is a bake sale.
Gym – The students started the day doing gym with Mr. Orr, which you can read about on his blog (http://tysonorr.blogspot.com).
Inquiry into Language – Students wrote their spelling words into their agendas for this week.
Music – Then, we had music with Mr. Oliver, which you can read about on his blog (https://mrolivermusicclass.blogspot.com).
French – In the afternoon, we had French with Mme. Rawan, which you can read about on her blog (https://mmerawansja.blogspot.com).
Inquiry into Math – Today, we did a comprehensive review of surface area and volume. To recap, surface area is the total area of all sides around a 3D shape. Volume is the space inside. To calculate:
We went through a few examples as a class, and the marking scheme for surface area and volume.
Surface Area marks:
· Calculate the area of the triangle (1 mark)
· Multiply triangle area by 2 (1 mark)
· Area of 1strectangle (1 mark)
· Area of 2ndrectangle (1 mark)
· Area of 3rdrectangle (1 mark)
· Add all area together (1 mark)
· Correct answer (1 mark)
· Correct units (1 mark)
Volume:
· Calculate the area of the triangle (1 mark)
· Multiply triangle area by height of prism (1 mark)
· Correct answer (1 mark)
· Correct units (1 mark)
Both:
· Final therefore sentence (1 mark)
Inquiry into Government – We began working on our government summative tasks today. I heard a lot of creative country names.
For homework:
· Surface Area and Volume review (due tomorrow)
· Shannen read chapters 21 – 23
All homework for the day is placed here, but time may have been given in class to complete this work.
