I can’t believe another week is over. 10 more school days until March break!
A couple of quick reminders:
· Monday is a Day 4.
· Aftercare invoices were due on February 15th; if you are unsure if you have any owing amount, please email Ms. Chiappetta at echiappetta@stjudesacademy.com
· Registration is now open to the public; if you have not submitted your package – please do so as soon as possible and reach out with any questions.
· Permission forms were sent home for our trip to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. They are due no later than Wednesday, March 6th, 2019.
· The website for hot lunches in March is now open. Please remember we are skiing on March 7thand on a trip on March 27th, so hot lunches should not be ordered for those days.
Inquiry into Math – Today, we learned the surface area of a triangular prism. To do this, you need to remember the area of a rectangle (l x w) and area of a triangle ((b x h)/2). You do this in 3 steps:
1. Calculate the area of the base triangle and multiply by 2 (there are two triangles).
2. Calculate the area of each rectangle.
3. Add everything together to get the surface area.
This concept can be a little bit tricky to understand, so we will be reviewing it on Monday along with volume. We will be writing our final measurement unit test next Friday, March 1st.
Inquiry into Language – We wrote our week 21 spelling test.
French – In the afternoon, we had French with Mme. Rawan, which you can read about on her blog (https://mmerawansja.blogspot.com).
Inquiry into Language – We completed our second week of literature circles.
Inquiry into Government – Today, we did some indigenous art. We created wall hangings!
For homework:
· Shannen read ch. 20
· MMS Pg. 144 – 145 (due Monday)
· Spelling corrections x5 per word (due Monday)
· Get summative package signed
All homework for the day is placed here, but time may have been given in class to complete this work.
