Thursday, February 28th


I hope everyone has been having a good day. 6 more school days until March break!


A couple of quick reminders:
·      Tomorrow is a Day 2 – students should come dressed in regular school day uniforms as they are working in class for gym on their health summative.
·      Permission forms were sent home today for our Scientists in the School workshop on April 18th. These forms are due back by next Friday, March 8th– no exceptions.
·      Aftercare invoices were due on February 15th; if you are unsure if you have any owing amount, please email Ms. Chiappetta at echiappetta@stjudesacademy.com
·      Re-registration is now open to the public; if you have not submitted your package – please do so as soon as possible and reach out with any questions.
·      Permission forms were sent home for our trip to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. They are due no later than Wednesday, March 6th, 2019.


In the morning, we started the day with an anti-bullying assembly. We talked about the different types of bullying and then how bullying affects everyone. We also talked about why we wear the pink shirts.










In the afternoon, we went to see the grade ten personal projects.

Inquiry into Language – Today, we completed our last round of literature circles for the term. This has been quite a learning experience and we now have a foundation for term three.




Inquiry into Math – We took up our math review for our test tomorrow.














Inquiry into Government – Students continued working on their government summative tasks. We will continue this work tomorrow.




For homework:
·      Study for math test (tomorrow)
·      Study for spelling test (tomorrow)
·      Complete page 1 of irregular verbs for French (due tomorrow)
All homework for the day is placed here, but time may have been given in class to complete this work.

Wednesday, February 27th


I hope everyone is enjoying this weather. From what I hear, this is supposed to be the last major snowfall of the year! 7 more school days until March break!

My apologies for the lack of photos today – between gym, music, and the snow – it completely slipped my mind!

A couple of quick reminders:
·      Tomorrow is a Day 1.
·      Tomorrow is anti-bullying day, so students can wear a pink shirt in support. If they are not wearing a pink shirt, they will need to wear their full school day uniform.

French – In the afternoon, we had French with Mme. Rawan, which you can read about on her blog (https://mmerawansja.blogspot.com).

Inquiry into Math – We worked on our review for our upcoming measurement test on Friday.

Inquiry into Language – Students continued working on their literature circles for our final group sessions tomorrow.

We are going to work on the government summative tasks tomorrow.

Tuesday, February 26th

·      Permission forms were sent home today for our Scientists in the School workshop on April 18th. These forms are due back by next Friday, March 8th– no exceptions.

·      The website for hot lunches in March is now open. Please remember we are skiing on March 7thand on a trip on March 27th, so hot lunches should not be ordered for those days.

Inquiry into Language – We started our day by working on our spelling lesson for week 22. The grade five spellers were doing more work with syllables and our grade six spellers were looking at the prefixes: fore-, em-, and en-.





French – In the afternoon, we had French with Mme. Rawan, which you can read about on her blog (https://mmerawansja.blogspot.com).

Inquiry into Math – We wrote a quick pop quiz for math. This is just to show the students what they need to study for our upcoming measurement test this Friday. These quizzes have been marked and put back into their math duotangs. They have also been given a math review to work on in the event of a snow day tomorrow.




Inquiry into Language – Students worked on their literature circle roles for week 3. This is the last week of literature circles.

Inquiry into Government – We continued working on our government summative tasks today.
