For today’s class, start the day by joining me on Discord to be ready for class to start at 9 a.m. It is best to login at least 5 minutes earlier to deal with technical difficulties. Click on our text and voice channel (mr_contes_class). We will begin each day this way. If I am not there, I may be experiencing Wi-Fi issues. Please be patient. We will continue focusing on writing our first edited draft of the essay today. Please refer to the schedule below to know where to be and what document to be working on at various times of the day.
Today we will focus on section 13 of the Exhibition planner ‘Edit the Essay’.
Don’t forget that we had our MLA citations workshop with Ms. Hayward. Students can visit Ms. Hayward’s Write It – CITE It page to review the content she discussed during her workshop.
During the exhibition process, specialist teachers (Mr. Orr, Mr. Oliver, Mme. Stella) with help facilitate learning for each of the exhibition groups during their scheduled class times. Today’s Learning Goal # 1: Collaboratively read, make editing marks,
and edit the essay to produce the final draft/good copy of the essay

Next steps in the
exhibition planner (via live stream) - Complete Section 13. Editing the
Essay by the end of the day - all group members and at least one adult
must make editing suggestions
·
Begin this task by
copying the entire essay from Section 12 and pasting it in Section 13. We are
doing this so as not to lose the different versions of the essay.

Mute your mics. Each
person in the group reads the entire essay from beginning to end. Your goal
is to find, and highlight, and sometimes comment on every mistake you find
(grammar, vocabulary usage, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, citations).
·
Once each person in
your group has done this, ask an adult to do this too. The adult can be your
teacher, mentor, or parent.
·
Once an adult has
made editing suggestions its time for you to go back to the paragraphs you
wrote and correct them.
·
Everyone read the
essay again. Make sure it is perfect.
·
Do not change the
work/paragraphs done by your peers – it is their responsibility to edit their
writing. Remember, each person will be graded on their contribution to the
essay (use your designated font colour).
