Monday, April 20th

Good morning everyone!

Our focus for week is the final push to complete Sections 16 – 20 of the Exhibition Planner – the math, French, arts, and action components, and The Primary Source by this Thursday, April 23rd. Once we have accomplished this, we will shift our focus to putting everything together for the final presentation. More information about this will be shared on Friday, April 24th.

A few quick messages from St. Jude’s:

A quick message from Mr. Neal about our daily challenge: It’s time to wiggle and giggle in today’s Lower School challenge!  That’s right – send us a video of you moving/wiggling your ears, without touching them, and you’ll be on the list to win this week’s prize from Uber Eats. Send your videos in today, to Mr. Neal: sneal@stjudesacademy.com

A couple of groups have completed their surveys and we are asking for you and your parents to take some time to complete them. They will not take long:

New survey:
Deforestation by Daniel, Jaiden, & Charlie
Social Media by Caitlyn, Sophia, & Jaya

Older Surveys:

Please take time to read Sofia and Aamna’s Action Component Daily Blog Messages About Homeless and Neglected Children
Causes
Homeless Children: One of the major causes of child homelessness is the shortage of affordable housing. This means the parents don’t have enough money to pay the rent or actually buy a proper house. Another reason for child homelessness is unemployment, this is currently because of COVID-19 but in the past it has been because of the company not having enough money or the employee not doing enough work.
Neglected Children: A report of child neglect is made every 10 seconds and more than 5 children die daily because of child neglect. Substance abuse and poverty are the top 2 issues related to child neglect. Mental problems and domestic abuse may affect the parent’s ability to provide the needs of a child, child neglect could also be caused by many different problems that the parent has.
Please refer to the schedule below to know where to be and what document to be working on at various times of the day.

During the exhibition process, specialist teachers (Mr. Orr, Mr. Oliver, Mme. Stella) will help facilitate learning for each of the exhibition groups during their scheduled class times. A quick message from Mr. Oliver regarding instruments: Please make sure to clean your instrument thoroughly before using it. Work that is not completed during class time will need to be completed as homework. Students should put more focus into reading at this time. It is an expectation that students are reading between 30 and 60 minutes per day.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out so I can clarify and assist.
