I hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing weekend. We seem to be heading into another deep-freeze (despite that groundhog saying we were supposed to see an early spring…).
First and foremost – messages for parents.
A couple of quick reminders:
· Tomorrow is a Day 6.
· Aftercare invoices are due on this TODAY Monday, April 15th; if you are unsure if you have any owing amount, please email Ms. Chiappetta at echiappetta@stjudesacademy.com
· Re-registration is now open to the public; if you have not submitted your package – please do so as soon as possible and reach out with any questions.
· Forms were sent home for the Silent Dance taking place on April 30th– the cost is $20.
· Forms were sent home regarding our upcoming Wizard of Ozproduction. It will cost $15 per student (not in a main role) for costumes. These forms were due back today!
· Scholastic order forms were sent home last week.
· This is the last week of full winter uniforms!
Inquiry into Language - Today, students were given time to work on week 4 of their literature circles. We will be having our group discussions on Wednesday.
1. Summariser – Summarise the three chapters for the week.
2. Connector – Connect what is happening in the text to your own life, current world events, and other books, movies, or television shows.
3. Literary Critic – Choose a short passage from the book and analyse why it is important to the story.
4. Discussion Moderator – Come up with questions to fuel a group discussion.
5. Word Wizard – Define and explain new or interesting words.
French – In the afternoon, we had French with Mme. Rawan, which you can read about on her blog (https://mmerawansja.blogspot.com).
Inquiry into Math – Today, we started our transformational geometry unit with a pre-assessment. Tomorrow, we will continue by beginning the unit.
Inquiry into Biodiversity – Students began working on their summative tasks for biodiversity. The final due date is Friday, April 26th.
For homework:
· Literature circles week 4 (due Wednesday)
· Study for spelling test (Thursday)
· Practice Wizard of Oz
· Silent Dance & Wizard of Oz forms
All homework for the day is placed here, but time may have been given in class to complete this work.
