I hope you’ve all had a lovely week.
Don’t forget about the wine & cheese social today if you’re attending.
And a quick note regarding the exhibition projects in grade six…
Dear St. Jude's families
We are two grade six students doing an assignment in which we have to take action to make the world a happier and better place to live in. We ask you to please sign the online petition to support us in banning violent video games for children under the age of 18-years-old. Thank you for your time.
From: Ethan & Amron

French – In the morning, we had French with Mme. Rawan, which you can read about on her blog (https://mmerawansja.blogspot.com).
Inquiry into Language – We wrote our spelling test for spelling lesson 28.
Music – Then, we had music with Mr. Oliver, which you can read about on his blog (https://mrolivermusicclass.blogspot.com). We rehearsed in the dome for The Wizard of Oztoday!
Inquiry into Biodiversity – Students were given a final chance to refine their podcasts and complete any last-minute work they wanted to complete.
Inquiry into Math – Today, we looked at rotations again. Students learned how to rotate figures on the cartesian plane (which has both negative and positive numbers). There are actually rules for this system, and they are as follows:
For clockwise rotations about the origin (0,0):
· For 90oor ¼ turns (x, y) à(y, -x)
· For 180oor ½ turns (x, y) à(-x, -y)
· For 270oor ¾ turns (x, y) à(-y, x)
For counter-clockwise rotations about the origin (0,0):
· For 90oor ¼ turns (x, y) à(-y, x)
· For 180oor ½ turns (x, y) à(-x, -y)
· For 270oor ¾ turns (x, y) à(y, -x)
It is important to note that if a number is already negative, it will become positive instead! You go to the opposite integer.
Another thing to notice: a 90oturn 1 way is a 270oturn the other way. A 180oturn either way ends up in the same place!
Inquiry into Biodiversity – Students completed their podcast presentations in the final part of the day. We had some great humour and the presentations were very well done. Good job everyone! We will be finishing the final four on Monday.
For homework:
· Rotations worksheet (due Monday)
· Literature circles week 5 (due Monday)
· Practice for Wizard of Oz
All homework for the day is placed here, but time may have been given in class to complete this work.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns by email, and I will respond as quickly as possible.
Mr. Conte
