There’s some ice on the road, so I hope everyone is travelling safely.
Gym – The students started the day doing gym with Mr. Orr, which you can read about on his blog (http://tysonorr.blogspot.com)
We had a discussion today discussing and reviewing some of the habits and behaviours that we learned and worked on in term one. We discussed how these habits and behaviours will help us in term two, and what we can look forward to. Term two will have a large focus on reading and writing.
Music – Then, we had music with Mr. Oliver, which you can read about on his blog (https://mrolivermusicclass.blogspot.com).
French – In the afternoon, we had French with Mme. Rawan, which you can read about on her blog (https://mmerawansja.blogspot.com).
Inquiry into Math – Today, we had our final Geometry lesson, which focussed on the nets of three dimensional objects; we learned to both identify and draw them. Overall, the idea is simple. A netis the two dimensional version of a three dimensional object. You should be able to cut it out and fold it into an object. Visualize yourself cutting out the object and folding it. If there are any openings, and sides are too long or not long enough, or there will be an overlap, then it is not a net. We also learned about pyramids. Up until now, we have always known pyramids to have a square base, but it is possible for any shape to be the base of a pyramid. The important thing is that it has a base, shapes on the side (usually triangles), and they meet at the top!
We had some fun coming to the board and drawing the different shapes.
After this, we worked on our homework in class.
Inquiry into Ancient Civilizations – We worked on our summative today in class researching the ancient artefacts we will be replicating. These Chromebooks are really useful!
