I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week.
Inquiry into Language – We started by writing our lesson 8 spelling test this morning.
After this, we read the final chapter, chapter 22, of Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. We did a competition with a crossword puzzle that features events from the entire book. Team theta came in first, with zeta & kappa tying for 2ndplace.
Inquiry into Math – Today, we related units of capacity and volume. Volumeis how much of something is inside a space, while capacityis how much of something fits in that space. For example, you can have a 2 litre bottle with only 1 litre of water in it. There are a few items that need to be known:
· 1 cm3= 1 mL
· 1000 cm3= 1000 mL = 1 L
· 1 m3= 1000 L
· 1 m3= 1000000 cm3
To get from mL to L, you divide by 1000, and to go from L to mL, you multiply by 1000. To go from m3to cm3, you multiply by 1000000, and to go from cm3to m3, you divide by 1000000.
We did a few examples as a class.
Then, we worked on our textbook work and took it up afterward (page 234, questions 2 & 3).
Inquiry into Ancient Civilizations – Today, we continued looking into Ancient Greece by exploring Ancient Greek clothing, and reviewing the Ancient Greek timeline. We will continue more into our inquiry next week.
