A few messages from SJA:

Daily Challenge – Treat your family to supper this week by winning first place in our weekly challenges! Get a $50 Uber Eats dinner delivered courtesy of St. Jude’s – winner will be announced on June 23 during morning assembly.

Choose 4 of these challenges and send Mr. Neal your videos and pictures:

1.     Play checkers with a parent or sibling – send a picture whether you win or lose!
2.     Make a Kleenex Box Monster!  See attached picture.
3.     It’s time to get lean and mean – as an airplane that is! Make your best paper airplane and see how far it goes.
4.     “I can jump THIS high!” show us how high you can jump – but only on one foot!
5.     Blow up a balloon and hop 10 feet with it between your legs. Bonus points if you pop it with your knees at the end.
6.     Help clean the house! Get two towels (ask Mom or Dad which ones) and skate along the floor polishing it to a brilliant shine!
7.     It’s time for a wheel barrow race. Get a parent or sibling to hold your legs up and you race on your hands!  You need to go at least 10 feet in one direction and then back again.

Have fun everyone!

Inquiry into Math

Learning Goals: solve equations using inverse operations.

First, we will take up the homework as a class.

Next, we will go through the lesson provided in the PDF and some examples of how to solve equations using inverse operations.

Students will complete questions a-x provided in the PDF.

Success Criteria: I understand that…
·      to solve an equation means to find the value of the variable that makes the equation true
·      an equation can be solved by using inverse operations
I can:
·      solve an equation by finding the value of the variable that makes the equation true-solve an equation by using inverse operations

Work that is not completed during class time will need to be completed as homework. Students should put more focus into reading at this time. It is an expectation that students are reading between 30 and 60 minutes per day.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out so I can clarify and assist.
