Inquiry into the Human Body – Today, we continued our inquiry into the human body by learning more about the circulatory system. We learned about how blood flows and how to label the heart. We will continue our inquiry on Thursday.

Inquiry into Math – In the afternoon, we extended our knowledge of dividing decimals further by learning what to do when you get a remainder with division. As a reminder of division:
1.    Estimate. 1.698 rounds to 2; 2 / 2 = 1
2.    Remove the decimal.
a.    1.698à1698
3.    Divide.
a.    1698 / 2 = 849
4.    Replace the decimal.
a.    849à0.849
For the question 19.877 / 5, the answer is 3.9754, which is 3.975 when rounded to the nearest thousandth. For the question 4 / 3, the answer is 1.3333333333333 and on, which is a recurring decimal. To represent this, you place a line over the first two threes to show that they continue.

Our final math assessment for the decimals unit will be this Friday.

In the afternoon, we went to watch the JK – Grade 2 Christmas concert. Great job to all classes!

Inquiry into Language – Today, we started discussing persuasive writing, and the use of the OREO method. First you state your opinion, then you need reasonswith examples, and then you restate your opinion. We will be continuing this tomorrow.
