I hope you’ve all had a great week. We have had a SUPER busy day today with a lot of writing.
A couple of quick reminders:
· Monday is a Day 6.
· For any students attending the Skate being planned by the parent guild, forms are due back with money on Monday, December 10th.
· Permission forms and waiver forms were sent home last week for our upcoming ski trips in the new year. These must be returned and signed by Tuesday, December 11thfor those attending.
· The lunch website has opened for the month of January – it will close on December 19that 3 p.m. The special for the month of January is French Toast with fruit.
· Aftercare invoices are due on December 15th; if you are unsure if you have any owing amount, please email Ms. Chiappetta at echiappetta@stjudesacademy.com
Inquiry into Language – We started our day by writing our week 13 spelling test.
After this, we wrote our term two DRAs. I am hoping to have those marked this weekend, so we can set goals for reading and writing this term.
French – In the afternoon, we had French with Mme. Rawan, which you can read about on her blog (https://mmerawansja.blogspot.com).
After French, we wrote our term two OWA pre-assessment.
Inquiry into Math – Today, we learned how to multiply whole numbers by 0.1, 0.01, and 0.001. When you multiply a whole number by a whole number, the number is a whole number and it gets larger.
When you multiply a whole number by a decimal, it gets smaller.
· When you multiply a whole number by 0.1, the decimal moves one place to the left.
· When you multiply a whole number by 0.01, the decimal moves two places to the left.
· When you multiply a whole number by 0.001, the decimal moves three places to the left.
Since 0.1, 0.01, and 0.001 are equal to 1/10, 1/100, and 1/1000 respectively, we can compare multiplying decimals to dividing by whole numbers.
· Multiply by 0.1 = decimal moves one space to the left = divide by 10
· Multiply by 0.01 = decimal moves two spaces to the left = divide by 100
· Multiply by 0.001 = decimal moves three spaces to the left = divide by 1000
For homework:
All homework for the day is placed here, but time may have been given in class to complete this work.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns by email, and I will respond as quickly as possible.
Mr. Conte
