Good afternoon everyone!
It’s Wednesday, and our week is
already half over!
We started our morning with gym,
which you can read about on Mr. Orr’s blog (link on the left).
Inquiry into Matter – Today, we
continued our consolidation of matter by doing a review sheet on matter as a
class.
We then had music with Mr. Oliver,
which you can read about on his blog (link on the left).
In the afternoon, we had French,
which you can read about on Mme. Rawan’s blog (link on the left).
Inquiry into Math – Over the past
few days, we have been reviewing the addition, subtraction, and multiplication
of large numbers. Today, we continued our inquiry by dividing large numbers. It
looks complicated, but here is what you do:
- Ask how many times the number you are dividing by goes into your first number, and write that number above.
- Multiply the number you found by the number you are dividing by and write the product below.
- Subtract.
- Bring your next number down.
- Repeat steps 1 – 4 until you cannot divide into your number anymore.
- Your answer will be listed above, and any remainder below.
We did some collaborative work
after this out of our textbook.
Then, we consolidated our learning
on the board as a class.
Inquiry into Language – After our
second recess and lunch, we continued our research for International Day – we
are researching Greece. A lot of people again opted to stay inside for recess
and do research.
For homework:
A couple of quick reminders:
- · Terry Fox forms were sent home in the student agendas – we are trying to raise as much money as possible for cancer research. Tonight is the last night!
- · A letter was sent home regarding the Caribou math contest on Friday. This is an optional contest for those who wish to take part in a math challenge. Please feel free to read through and email with any questions.
- · A letter was sent home on Friday regarding upcoming unit phone calls. Please fill out and return to me by sometime next week so I can know when/how best to contact you.
- · Tomorrow is our bake sale – students can bring nut free treats (cannot contain traces of nuts) and money to purchase items after their lunch is finished.
- · Tomorrow is our Terry Fox run – students come dressed in their gym uniforms all day.
- · Friday is Orange shirt day – Students can come dressed in an orange shirt to remember those students who were taken from their homes and sent to residential schools. They may wear casual bottoms and shoes if they come in an orange shirt. Otherwise, it is full uniform.
As always, please feel free to
reach out to me with any questions or concerns by email, and I will respond as
quickly as possible.
Mr. Conte
