Thursday, September 27th

Good afternoon everyone!

It’s Thursday – and we are having quite an exciting week here. We had our Terry Fox run today!

Inquiry into Math – We started the morning by starting to work on our final math review. We have our final unit math assessment on Monday, October 1st. The students will work on the review tonight, and we will continue the review tomorrow.

Inquiry into Matter – Today, we had a pop quiz on matter, to see how much we know. Everyone has a pretty good understanding of matter in our class!

Inquiry into Language – We started working on our orange chain links for Orange Shirt Day. We do this to remember those children of First Nations that were taken from their homes and forced into residential schools.  The slogan for this is “Every Child Matters”.

After this, we went to the library for our library time with Ms. Hayward, which you can read about on her blog (link on the left).

In the afternoon, we did not have French. Instead, we ran for Terry Fox!

Inquiry into Language – After our second recess and lunch, we continued our research for International Day – we are researching Greece. A lot of people again opted to stay inside for recess and do research. We completed our first drafts today, and rough copies will be due on Monday so we can complete our good copies.

For homework:
  • ·         Study for lesson 3 spelling test tomorrow
  • ·         Study for French spelling test tomorrow
  • ·         Complete math review (due tomorrow)
  • ·         Complete rough copy for International Day (due Monday)

A couple of quick reminders:
  • ·         Terry Fox forms were sent home in the student agendas – we are trying to raise as much money as possible for cancer research. Tonight is the last night!
  • ·         A letter was sent home regarding the Caribou math contest on Friday. This is an optional contest for those who wish to take part in a math challenge. Please feel free to read through and email with any questions.
  • ·         A letter was sent home on Friday regarding upcoming unit phone calls. Please fill out and return to me by sometime next week so I can know when/how best to contact you.
  • ·         Friday is Orange shirt day – Students can come dressed in an orange shirt to remember those students who were taken from their homes and sent to residential schools. They may wear casual bottoms and shoes if they come in an orange shirt. Otherwise, it is full uniform.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns by email, and I will respond as quickly as possible.

Mr. Conte
