Friday, September 28th

Good afternoon everyone!

It’s Friday, and what a week we’ve had! We had a bake sale, we had a casual day, we had our Terry Fox run, and we had orange shirt day today. It was so nice to see everyone participate in such a great cause today!

Today is the last school day for September. It’s been a month already!

The day started with gym with Mr. Orr, which you can read about on his blog (link on the left).

Inquiry into Language – We had some study time for our spelling test, and our spelling test right after. After our spelling test, we had a practice test for the French spelling test this afternoon.

In the afternoon, we had French, which you can read about on Mme. Rawan’s blog (link on the left).

Inquiry into Math – We spent the remainder of the afternoon taking up the review assigned yesterday, and practicing for the math test on Monday. Division is still a little bit tricky, but we have a pretty good understanding of it today. Students should have brought home their math duotangs and notebooks to study with for the test on Monday. I also suggest doing the “Show What You Know” section on pages 76 & 77 of the textbook. Many students decided to leave their texts at school. I will post the pages here, and I will post the answers to the pages before Sunday.

For homework:

A couple of quick reminders:
  • ·         A letter was sent home regarding the Caribou math contest on Friday. This is an optional contest for those who wish to take part in a math challenge. Please feel free to read through and email with any questions.
  • ·         A letter was sent home on Friday regarding upcoming unit phone calls. Please fill out and return to me by sometime next week so I can know when/how best to contact you.
  • ·         Friday is Orange shirt day – Students can come dressed in an orange shirt to remember those students who were taken from their homes and sent to residential schools. They may wear casual bottoms and shoes if they come in an orange shirt. Otherwise, it is full uniform.

I will be sending an email this weekend with some updates for next week and ongoing.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns by email, and I will respond as quickly as possible.

Mr. Conte
