Inquiry into Canada in the World – We started looking at our new unit by examining our responsibility in the transdisciplinary theme, central idea, lines of inquiry, and key concepts for our new unit.
Music – Then, the students had music with Mr. Oliver, which you can read about on his blog (https://mrolivermusicclass.blogspot.com).
French – After this, the students had French with Mme. Stella, which you can read about on her blog (https://stjudesfrench-stella.blogspot.com).
Inquiry into Math – Students wrote the final assessment for Unit 6: Measuring Area and Perimeter.
Inquiry into Explorers – We looked at a world map and labelled our continents and oceans.
After this, we played a game of Globingo! Students had to go around the class and learn about how their own classmates have interacted with other countries.
This weekend, students will complete a treasure hunt to learn about items in their own homes that are from other countries.
We have a special rule in place for this unit – if a country is spoken about in class, we put a pin on that country on our map. It then becomes fair game for that country’s location to be our our final unit test. Here’s what we got so far:
· Indonesia
· India
· Pakistan
· Russia
· Ireland
· United Arab Emirates
· United States
· Canada
· Australia
· Portugal
· Italy
· United Kingdom
· India
· China
· Jamaica
· Trinidad & Tobago
Inquiry into Language – Students will be typing the good copies of their speeches this weekend and memorizing them for Monday.
Homework:
We do our best to complete work in class. In the event this is not possible, it will go home for homework.
As always, please feel free to email me with any questions.
Mr. Conte
