I hope you're all having a wonderful week.
A reminder about the upcoming science fair – parents are invited tomorrow afternoon.
And we also have our annual book fair at the end of this month!
A few quick reminders:
· Tomorrow is a Day 1.
· Aftercare invoices for the month of October have come out and are due Friday, November 15th, 2019. Any questions can be directed to Ms. Chiappetta at echiappetta@stjudesacademy.com
· Photos from picture day were sent home with week. Picture day retakes are occurring on November 20th.
Science Fair – We started the day working on our cars for science fair!
French – After this, we had French with Mme. Stella, which you can read about on her blog (https://stjudesfrench-stella.blogspot.com).
Science Fair – After lunch, we had our science fair judging. Our winners will be announced next week.
Inquiry into Language – Today, we talked about the short story form. We examined Freytag’s pyramid. The pyramid has 5 parts:
1. Exposition – This is where we meet the characters and learn the setting (time and place).
2. Rising Action – This is where the problem of the story is revealed.
3. Climax – This is the moment in the story where something big happens (a twist of events).
4. Falling Action – This is where the story is wrapping up & things are starting to resolve.
5. Resolution – This is the end where the problem has reached a resolution.
Tomorrow we will talk more about legends and fables in preparation for our OWA next week.
Inquiry into Flight – Today, we started our project on how flying devices have an impact on society and the environment. Students are asking 3 big questions about how their flying device interacts with society or the environment. They will complete this in pairs and present next week.
Homework:
- Finish post-construction sketch and design reflection (due tomorrow)
We do our best to complete work in class. In the event this is not possible, it will go home for homework.
As always, please feel free to email me with any questions.
Mr. Conte
