I hope you enjoy your weekend! All of our Grade 6 students did an excellent job on their science fair cars. Thank you to everyone who came to see.
Our science fair awards assembly is coming up.
And we also have our annual book fair at the end of this month!
A few quick reminders:
· Monday is a Day 2.
· Aftercare invoices for the month of October have come out and were due Friday, November 15th, 2019 (which is today). Any questions can be directed to Ms. Chiappetta at echiappetta@stjudesacademy.com
· Photos from picture day were sent home with week. Picture day retakes are occurring on November 20th.
· Our trip to the Warplane Museum is next Thursday, November 21st.
Inquiry into Language – First, we reviewed yesterday:
1. Exposition – This is where we meet the characters and learn the setting (time and place).
2. Rising Action – This is where the problem of the story is revealed.
3. Climax – This is the moment in the story where something big happens (a twist of events).
4. Falling Action – This is where the story is wrapping up & things are starting to resolve.
5. Resolution – This is the end where the problem has reached a resolution.
We started talking about what legends and fables are today. A legend is a traditional story – usually based on real events – that contains exaggerated plots. A fable is a story with only a few characters (usually animals) that conveys a moral. They are fictional.
We wrote our own fable as a class. Check it out!
French – After this, we had French with Mme. Stella, which you can read about on her blog (https://stjudesfrench-stella.blogspot.com).
Inquiry into Flight – Students worked on their projects regarding how society and the environment are affected by flying devices or vice versa.
Science Fair – We had our Grand Prix for Grade 6! Congratulations to Daniel, Divyansh, and Ahil on winning our Arrow, Speedy, and Good Looker awards!
Science Fair – At the end of the day, we opened our doors to families to come and see all of our hard work. Thank you to everyone for coming!
Homework:
· Study for OWA (Monday)
We do our best to complete work in class. In the event this is not possible, it will go home for homework.
As always, please feel free to email me with any questions.
