Good afternoon everyone!
I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week. We have had such a busy week in Grade 6 – it honestly feels like it never stops!
A few quick reminders:
· Monday is a Day 3.
· For anyone who ordered Hot Lunch, payments were due on the 13thof September.
· Science Fair money ($15) due next Monday (letter must be signed, and shoeboxes brought in).
· The hot lunch site is open for the month of October and will close on Wednesday, September 25that 3:00 p.m. The special for October will be pancakes with vanilla cream and syrup (optional).
Inquiry into Energy – Today, we did an experiment to determine different conductors and insulators. A conductor is a material that allows the flow of electricity. An insulator is a material that does not allow electricity to flow. We experimented with many different materials such as plastic spoons, metal spoons, popsicle sticks, quarters, water, saltwater, and a pen.
French – Then, we had French with Mme. Stella, which you can read about on her blog (https://stjudesfrench-stella.blogspot.com).
After lunch, we went on our Terry Fox run! Our class ran a total of 145 laps.
Inquiry into Language – Then, we wrote a paragraph detailing what life would be like without electricity.
Inquiry into Math – We started math by reviewing the homework questions from yesterday. Question 12 was an assessment focus question, so we went over that in detail.
Inquiry into Math – Today’s lesson was about factors and multiples. We had quite a few definitions and examples we needed to do today. Here are the notes from today’s lesson:
And that’s the first full week of Grade 6 done!
